The early Summer Milky Way rises vertically and lines up with Doubling Point Lighthouse on the Kennebec River in Arrowsic, Maine.
This is one frame from a time lapse at a small pond in central Maine where the rising crescent moon and some fast moving clouds are reflected in the calm water. The orange hue on the left horizon is light pollution.
The Milky Way galaxy makes a dramatic background for Corona Arch, located in Bootlegger Canyon just outside of Moab, Utah. The opening of Corona Arch is 140 feet tall and 105 feet wide. During this photography workshop the arch was lit with an orange LED to match the surrounding landscape. There was quite a bit of airglow in the sky this evening. This image is a blend of two shots, one for the sky and one for the foreground.
