This is a 4 image panorama featuring the Spring arc of our Milky Way galaxy reflected in the calm water of Unity Pond, Maine. The structure on the left is a train trestle located on the unused train tracks. This is a tough spot to shoot from because of the rocky & marshy terrain but well worth it. There is quite a bit of green airglow in the sky and the orange hue on the horizon is light pollution. Nikon D600 & 14-24 @ 15mm f/2.8 - 4 x 30 secs - ISO 4000 05/07/14 – 2:45AM
This image is a composite of the foreground shot and 185 frames of the sky. These photos were taken with different cameras/lenses at different locations about a year apart. I stacked the frames of a Milky Way time lapse to make a standard star trails image and then masked in a single frame of the Milky Way using a blending method that I've been working on for a while.
