Having never seen any night shots from the Moki Dugway, we decided it was a must-do opportunity when we were visiting the area in 2017 . The Moki Dugway is an amazing graded dirt switchback road carved into the face of the cliff edge of Cedar Mesa. It consists of 3 miles of steep switchbacks at 11% grade which wind 1,200 feet from Cedar Mesa to the valley floor near Valley of the Gods. The dugway is part of the Utah section of the Trail of the Ancients, a National Scenic Byway. This image consists of 6 shots to capture the sky and the foreground. We waited for the Milky Way to get in the right position while experimenting with different long exposures for the foreground. Big thanks to my buddy Michael Wood for clicking the cameras while I drove up and down the switchbacks to get decent car light trails.

A beautiful clear night under Maine's dark skies at Moosehead Lake in mid-September 2017. We used some static lighting techniques off camera left and right for foreground lighting. Nikon D750 | 14mm | f/2.8 | 20 secs | ISO 4000
