This surreal image is comprised of many different photographs all shot at night: the foreground image of the shack, ground, and trees; the Milky Way, clouds and an impressive amount of green airglow; and a star trails composite of 100 frames.
The Milky Way rises behind Cape Neddick Lighthouse (aka Nubble Light) in York, Maine in early March.
The Milky Way galaxy and countless stars make a dramatic background for Corona Arch, located in Bootlegger Canyon just outside of Moab, Utah. The opening of Corona Arch is 140 feet tall and 105 feet wide. During this photography workshop the arch was lit with an orange LED to match the surrounding landscape. There was quite a bit of airglow in the sky this evening. This image is a blend of a single 5 minute exposure for the foreground and 117 frames of a time lapse for the Milky Way and star trails.
